Acreditación ABET
Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) is a nonprofit, non-governmental accrediting agency for programs in applied science, computing, engineering and engineering technology and they are recognized as an accreditor by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation of USA.
ABET accreditation provides assurance that a college or university program meets the quality standards of the profession for which that program prepares graduates. They accredit programs, not institutions as they provide specialized accreditation for post-secondary programs whithin degree-granting institutions already recognized by national or regional institutional accreditation agencies or national education authorities worldwide.
The accreditation is voluntary, and to date, over 3.700 programs at more than 750 colleges and universities in 30 countries have received ABET accreditation. Approximately 85.000 students graduate from ABET-accredited programs each year, and millions of graduates have received degrees from ABET-accredited programs since 1932.
A total of 8 undergraduate programs of the Engineering School of Universidad de los Andes received the ABET accreditation by Engineering Accreditation Commission in 2010.
