Acreditación ABET

Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) is a nonprofit, non-governmental accrediting agency for programs in applied science, computing, engineering and engineering technology and they are recognized as an accreditor by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation of USA. ​

ABET accreditation provides assurance that a college or university program meets the quality standards of the profession for which that program prepares graduates. They accredit programs, not institutions as they provide specialized accreditation for post-secondary programs whithin degree-granting institutions already recognized by national or regional institutional accreditation agencies or national education authorities worldwide.

​The accreditation is voluntary, and to date, over 3.700 programs at more than 750 colleges and universities in 30 countries have received ABET accreditation. Approximately 85.000 students graduate from ABET-accredited programs each year, and millions of graduates have received degrees from ABET-accredited programs since 1932.

A total of 8 undergraduate programs of the Engineering School of Universidad de los Andes received the ABET accreditation by Engineering Accreditation Commission in 2010.​
